Job Description
We are seeking a data-driven and commercially focused Category Manager to own and grow assigned product categories across our e-commerce platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for category strategy, product assortment, pricing, promotions, vendor management, and performance optimization to drive revenue, margin, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end performance of assigned product categories (sales, margin, conversion, inventory turns).
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with overall business goals.
- Identify growth opportunities through assortment expansion, private labels, bundles, or exclusives.
- Manage product selection, listings, and lifecycle (launch, optimization, phase-out).
- Ensure accurate, compelling product content (titles, descriptions, images, attributes).
- Optimize category navigation, filters, and on-site merchandising.
- Define pricing strategies based on competitive analysis, cost structures, and demand.
- Plan and execute promotions, deals, and campaigns in collaboration with marketing teams.
- Monitor promotional performance and ROI.
- Source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships (terms, pricing, SLAs).
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, marketing, finance, and tech teams.
- Drive vendor performance through scorecards and regular reviews.
- Track KPIs, revenue, margin, conversion rate, inventory turnover, and sell-through.
- Use data and customer insights to drive continuous optimization.
- Prepare regular performance reports and recommendations for leadership.
- Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to avoid stock-outs or overstock.
- Coordinate replenishment planning with supply chain and operations teams.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or buying (e-commerce preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to make commercial decisions.
- Experience managing suppliers or vendors.
- Solid understanding of online retail metrics and customer behavior.
- Experience with e-commerce platforms.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Knowledge of SEO, digital merchandising, and online promotions.
- Experience in fast-paced or high-growth e-commerce environments.
