Legal Manager

The incumbent is responsible for collaborating and supporting Head of Legal in advising the market/region/GSC on legal matters affecting the business. The aim is to achieve corporate and commercial objectives in a compliant manner by appropriate monitoring and management of legal risks. The job holder will also advise on regulatory related matters affecting the company, as well as a broad range of commercial matters, and will need to play a full part in the legal team, including advising on marketing, sales regulatory and competition law matters as part of that team. The job holder will assist the Head of Legal by concentrating on complex and/or high value legal matters, whether complex regulatory issues, manufacturing arrangements, joint ventures, corporate and governance, restructurings or disputes and litigation. On all matters, the job holder will take direct responsibility and be the point of contact for colleagues in the market/region and at a regional level. The role will provide support to the Iran market.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
Work closely with the Head of Legal in providing solution/business oriented legal advice across the full range of business activity where legal input (of all types) is required, which may include:

• Advising on high profile commercial law matters.
• Providing support for various functions and sales channels and instructing external counsel and advisors where necessary.
• Supporting Head of Legal in building and maintaining strong working relationships within the Market/Region, Region and HQ. Corporate governance matters.
• Providing legal advice relating to the Company’s current and any future premises.
• Legal advice on manufacturing products.

Project Management:

• Taking the lead and responsibility on projects that require legal support as and when they arise, including advising on employment law matters that may affect the business from time to time and which are likely to be highly confidential in nature. These projects will involve providing specialist legal support to all levels of management across the Market/Region.

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts:

• Purchasing and supply,
• Marketing,
• Employment,
• Distribution,
• Service agreements, etc.
• Providing legal advice to senior management and other team members in respect of such contracts as well as management of Contract life cycle.

Product Regulation:

• Advising on product regulations, including reviewing legislation on relevant matters.
• Informing the business on the same and/or ensuring company and its products comply with the regulatory regime,
• Reviewing and approval of marketing materials or projects where and when required.

Providing training

• Working collaboratively as part of the legal team to develop and provide training programs, precedents, guidance notes and updates for commercial management and other employees.
• Providing training to market in respect of competition law, sanctions, commercial and employment law, tobacco marketing or other areas as required.

Advising on general matters:

• Working as part of the legal team to advise and assist with general matters,
• Advising on marketing and market research activities,
• Advising on other areas of law as necessary, including competition law, IT, property,
• marketing, production, consumer protection, and health and safety.
• Litigation & Arbitration:
• Supporting Head of Legal to represent Company's interest in litigation.
• Budget management:
• Provide support to Head of Legal in budget management

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:
Education: 

• University degree in Law from well-known university

Work Experience: 

• A qualified lawyer with at least 3 years’ first class experience from a top city or regional firm, or in-house with an FMCG company, ideally with experience in advising on commercial contracts, regulatory matters.
