We’re looking for a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to help maintain and improve critical backend systems in the crypto and fintech domain. This role is focused on working within an established production codebase, ensuring stability, correctness, and performance for systems that support real financial activity.
The position is ideal for engineers who already have solid production experience and want to deepen their skills by working on in-production systems, while also contributing to new development initiatives as they evolve.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain and support an existing backend system running in production
- Debug and fix production issues, including performance and reliability problems
- Make incremental improvements to code quality, structure, and maintainability
- Work within existing architectural constraints and learn the system over time
- Contribute to backend development for new and evolving fintech features
- Collaborate with other engineers, product, and infrastructure teams
- Participate in code reviews and follow established engineering practices
- Write and improve tests and technical documentation
What you bring:
- 2+ years of professional backend development experience
- Experience developing a Django application in production
- Solid understanding of relational databases
- Experience with background or asynchronous processing
- Comfort reading, understanding, and modifying existing codebases
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and improve systems gradually
Nice to have:
- Experience with financial, crypto, or high-reliability systems
- Exposure to time-series or analytical data workloads
- Familiarity with message queues, caching layers, or async systems
- Experience with containerized or cloud-based environments
- Ability to work with more than one programming language
Tech environment:
A backend-focused environment using a mainstream web framework, relational databases, background processing, and modern deployment tooling. The exact technologies are less important than the ability to work effectively in an existing production system.
