As an AI Platform Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of highly skilled AI, Data, and BI engineers. This is a role with a dual focus: you will guide your team to deliver high-quality, production-grade engineering solutions while remaining a key hands-on contributor to architectural decisions, complex problem-solving, and the adoption of engineering best practices. You will foster a culture of technical excellence, resilient engineering, and collaboration, ensuring that both the platform and the talent thrive under your leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Develop the Team: Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers. Partner with HR to attract, hire, and retain top-tier talent who excel in an open-source environment.
- Define AI-Centric Technical Strategy: Drive the technical vision and architecture for the company's data and AI ecosystem. This includes data ingestion and warehousing, BI dashboards, and critically, the end-to-end lifecycle of machine learning models.
- Oversee the Production AI/ML Lifecycle: Direct the entire lifecycle of data and AI projects, from data pipelines to the operationalization of ML models. This includes overseeing model training, validation, monitoring, and building robust, automated deployment pipelines for seamless transitions between staging and production.
- Drive Engineering Excellence and Quality: Drive the adoption of best practices for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and MLOps to ensure all engineering solutions are scalable, resilient, and production-ready.
- Provide Hands-on Technical Guidance: Guide the team through the entire solution lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to implementation and operationalization. Actively participate in system design, code reviews, and solution prototyping to solve the most complex technical challenges.
- Collaborate and Resolve Conflicts: Partner with leaders in Product, Engineering, and other departments to ensure alignment with company goals. Serve as a key liaison and conflict resolution point between the AI Platform team and other internal departments to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Champion a Data-Driven Culture: Champion a data-driven culture by delivering actionable insights through ML models and robust self-service analytics tools. Actively provide data and analysis to key stakeholders across growth, marketing, and business strategy teams, ensuring efficient and clear communication of insights.
Requirements:
- Educational Foundation: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Extensive Technical Experience: 6+ years of experience in data-focused roles, with a proven track record of designing, building, and deploying large-scale data solutions.
- Proven Leadership: At least 3 years in a formal leadership or management role, with direct experience mentoring and guiding data scientists, data engineers, or BI analysts in a high-growth environment.
- Broad Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of data modeling and warehousing, ETL/ELT pipeline development, statistical analysis and machine learning, and data visualization.
- Strong Technical Acumen: Proficiency with modern programming languages (especially Python and Golang) and best practices in CI/CD and production software engineering.
- Strong Technical Acumen and Expertise with Open-Source Stacks: Proficiency with modern programming languages especially Python (familiarity with Golang is a plus). Experience with best practices in CI/CD, production software engineering and tools such as containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), data pipelines and orchestration (Kafka and Airflow), MLOps frameworks (MLflow and Cog), data stores (PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, etc.), ML frameworks (Pytorch and ONNX), and Analysis and BI tools (Microsoft stack, Metabase, Briefer).
- Strategic & Collaborative Mindset: A solution-oriented leader who can balance deep technical discussions with strategic business objectives and build strong, collaborative relationships.
