Job Overview

As the Business Line Owner (BLO) of Pay45 vertical, you will have end-to-end ownership of the business unit—from defining the strategic roadmap to execution, performance management, and continuous optimization. This role acts as a mini-CEO for the BNPL business, with full accountability for growth, profitability, and portfolio quality.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to scale a sustainable BNPL operations, balancing rapid market expansion with sound risk management and strong unit economics.


Key Responsibilities

Business Strategy & Ownership

  • Define and lead the strategic vision, roadmap, and P&L of the BNPL business line.
  • Own business performance across growth, profitability, and portfolio quality.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities, product gaps, and pricing positioning.
  • Align and lead cross-functional stakeholders across product, finance, credit, legal, marketing, operations, and sales to execute strategic initiatives.

Partnerships & Business Development

  • Identify, structure, and secure strategic partnerships with merchants, automotive dealers, financial institutions, and technology providers.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and manage contractual agreements in alignment with Pay45’s financial, risk, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor partner performance and continuously optimize collaboration models to maximize long-term value.

Credit, Risk & Unit Economics

  • Participate in defining credit policies, pricing frameworks, and risk appetite for the BNPL portfolio in collaboration with credit and finance teams.
  • Balance approval rates, default risk, customer experience, and profitability to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Track and optimize key unit economics metrics such as CAC, LTV, approval rate, and portfolio performance.

Customer & Market Intelligence

  • Collect and analyze customer feedback, behavioral data, and market insights to inform product and business decisions.
  • Stay up to date with fintech trends, consumer lending dynamics, and regulatory developments relevant to BNPL and digital credit.

Operations & Performance Management

  • Collaborate with internal teams to design and continuously improve operational processes, including credit approval, risk management, merchant onboarding, and customer servicing.
  • Define KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to track performance and surface risks and opportunities.
  • Regularly report progress, challenges, and results to senior leadership.

Sales Enablement & Go-to-Market

  • Co-own go-to-market strategies with sales and marketing teams to drive merchant acquisition and consumer adoption.
  • Develop clear value propositions and business cases for both B2B partners and end customers.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven presentations to internal leadership and external partners.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • 4–7 years of experience in business ownership, product-led growth, business development, or strategic operations—preferably in fintech, financial services, or consumer tech.
  • Proven experience scaling a business line or launching and owning new products end to end.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills, including financial modeling and ROI analysis.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of consumer lending, credit scoring, BNPL models, and payment technologies.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, CRM systems, and data analytics dashboards.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with competing priorities.
