What you do
- Design, build, and maintain highly available APIs and microservices with FastAPI and Django.
- Craft GraphQL and REST endpoints, ensuring performance, security, and versioning discipline.
- Optimise data layers across PostgreSQL, Redis, and event streams (Kafka / RabbitMQ).
- Containerize & orchestrate everything with Docker + Kubernetes, using Helm for repeatable releases.
- Automate CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Terraform) and champion trunk-based development.
- Instrument services with OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, metrics, and profiling.
- Drive rigorous quality: 90 %+ test coverage via Pytest, type-safety with Pydantic v2, MyPy & Ruff.
- Embed security best-practices (OAuth2/JWT, HTTPS-by-default, SBOM & dependency scanning).
- Lead technical design reviews, coach peers, and advocate modern Python patterns (async-first, dependency-injection, domain-driven design).
Must-have expertise
- 8 + years professional Python, 5 + with Django and ≥ 3 with FastAPI.
- Proven record designing micro-service architectures at scale (≥ 10k rps).
- Production Kubernetes experience (Kustomize/Helm, PodSecurity, HPA).
- Cloud fluency on AWS or GCP (EKS/GKE, IAM, VPC networking, serverless).
- Deep SQL performance tuning & caching strategies (PostgreSQL, Redis).
- Observability: OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, SLO/SLA modelling.
- CI/CD & IaC (GitHub Actions, Terraform, ArgoCD, or Flux).
- Excellent communication; comfortable leading architecture sessions and mentoring senior-to-senior conversations.
Nice-to-haves
- Event-driven systems (Kafka, Pulsar) or real-time comms (WebSockets).
- Experience with GraphQL federation, Apollo Gateway.
- Knowledge of ML-oriented workloads or streaming analytics.
- Compliance-heavy domains (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR) experience.
