We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who is highly skilled in NodeJS/NestJS and can also lead our engineering culture toward AI-Driven Development—using modern AI tools to multiply development speed and quality.
Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and build core backend services, improve system reliability and performance, and work closely with product and frontend teams to deliver robust features. You will also help standardize AI-assisted workflows (prompting, agentic tools) and have a strong understanding of MCP (Model Context Protocol) to connect models to tools and internal resources in a controlled and secure way.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS
- Architect modular and reusable services aligned with product goals (Clean Architecture/DDD when needed)
- Develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs (GraphQL is a plus)
- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB): schema design, indexing, query optimization
- Ensure production readiness: logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting (Observability best practices)
- Write automated unit/integration/e2e tests and maintain strong test coverage
- Participate in code reviews, enforce technical standards, and mentor other engineers
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and release management
- Debug production issues and perform root-cause analysis
AI-Driven Development & MCP
- Use LLM tools effectively for architecture support, implementation, test generation, debugging, documentation, and code review
- Strong prompt engineering skills: writing reusable prompts and team-ready prompt templates
- Familiarity with agentic workflows (tool-using assistants, multi-step reasoning pipelines)
- Solid understanding of MCP (Model Context Protocol) and how to use it to securely connect models to:
- repositories, documentation, tickets, databases, logs, internal tools
- with access control, safety, and repeatable workflows
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional software development experience (backend-focused)
- Strong proficiency with Node.js and production-grade NestJS
- Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals (SOLID, patterns, API design, refactoring)
- Experience with Git workflows, peer reviews, and collaborative development
- Familiarity with Docker and cloud/server environments (Linux, deployment fundamentals)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve production issues
- Excellent communication and teamwork
Nice to Have
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with message brokers like RabbitMQ / Kafka
- Experience with Redis and caching strategies
- Strong knowledge of backend security: OAuth2/JWT, RBAC/ABAC, OWASP, rate limiting, secrets management
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs (RAG, embeddings, guardrails, evaluation)
- Building internal developer productivity tools
