We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who takes full ownership of systems and products, and can turn ambiguous ideas into simple, scalable, production-ready solutions. You will be part of our Video & Platform Team, working on distributed systems with millions of users and high performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
This role requires deep experience in system design, microservices, and production ownership. It is not about frameworks — it is about building systems that last.
Core Expectations
- Strong sense of ownership over systems in production.
- Deep experience in system design for scalable, high-traffic products.
- Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures.
- Ability to take a raw idea and deliver a clear, simple, scalable design with minimal iteration.
- Strong preference for simplicity, clarity, and correctness over clever solutions.
- Acts as a technical mentor and role model for mid-level and junior engineers.
- A highly responsible code reviewer who protects system quality and long-term maintainability.
- Experience owning and supporting production systems, including incidents and post-mortems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and evolve distributed, scalable, and high-performance backend services.
- Lead and contribute to system design and architectural discussions.
- Own services from design → implementation → production → maintenance.
- Design and implement REST and GraphQL APIs with a strong focus on usability and performance.
- Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and graceful degradation of services.
- Build systems with observability in mind: logging, metrics, monitoring, and tracing.
- Actively participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Review code with a strong focus on design quality, simplicity, performance, and correctness.
- Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar of the team.
- Research technologies and apply best practices where they provide real value.
Technical Requirements
- 5–10 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience in system design and microservices-based architectures (mandatory).
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Go, JS, Python, etc.
Strong experience designing and implementing REST and GraphQL APIs. - Deep understanding of database design, including relational and non-relational systems such as:
- PostgreSQL
- Dgraph
- Redis
- MongoDB
- Experience with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
- Experience building and operating observable systems, including:
- Metrics and monitoring
- Centralized logging
- Distributed tracing
- Solid understanding of performance optimization, capacity planning, and scalability trade-offs.
- Strong experience with Git and modern development workflows.
- Comfortable working with Linux / Unix systems.
