We’re expanding our engineering team and hiring a Senior Frontend Developer who is passionate about building robust, high-performance React applications, leading frontend teams, and leveraging AI in modern software development.
Role Overview
As a Senior Frontend Developer at SternX, you will play a central role in shaping our core web applications. You’ll lead frontend engineers and collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver secure, reliable, and visually polished user experiences—especially for enterprise-grade, security-focused workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Excellence
- Mentor and guide frontend engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
- Lead code reviews and establish frontend engineering standards and best practices
- Support team growth through feedback, coaching, and technical direction
Frontend Architecture & Development
- Architect, build, and optimize scalable React applications for enterprise use cases
- Design reusable UI components and patterns (design system mindset is a plus)
- Implement effective state management (Redux, React Query, Zustand, or similar)
- Collaborate with backend teams to define API contracts and integration patterns
- Optimize performance (bundle size, render performance, caching strategies, Core Web Vitals)
Delivery & Agile Execution
- Break down features, estimate tasks, and drive sprint execution and delivery
- Partner with Product and Design to translate ideas into intuitive, accessible UX
- Own features end-to-end, ensuring quality, stability, and user impact
Quality, Testing & Reliability
- Write clean, maintainable, well-structured code with scalability in mind
- Implement unit and integration tests using Jest and React Testing Library
- Debug complex issues and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments
Security-minded Frontend Development
- Follow frontend security best practices (XSS prevention, secure token handling, safe data storage)
- Build secure UI flows for authentication/authorization and enterprise access patterns (RBAC/ABAC is a plus)
AI-Savvy Expectations
We’re specifically looking for someone who can use AI beyond “basic tooling” and has real-world experience integrating or working alongside AI-enabled workflows:
- Strong experience using AI to improve engineering output (debugging, refactoring, test generation, documentation)
- Ability to evaluate AI trade-offs (privacy, security, hallucinations, reliability)
- Familiarity with integrating AI features into web products:
- Working with LLM APIs (OpenAI / Anthropic / or internal models)
- Designing UX for AI features (confidence, fallbacks, user control, transparency)
- Basic understanding of embeddings / RAG / prompt engineering is a strong plus
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands-on frontend development experience, with deep React expertise
- Strong command of JavaScript (ES6+), and ideally TypeScript
- Advanced experience with state management and modern data fetching patterns
- Strong foundation in HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and accessibility (a11y)
- Experience integrating RESTful APIs and handling complex UI states
- Strong testing experience with Jest and React Testing Library
- Solid understanding of Git workflows and CI integration
- Proven ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and drive technical decisions
- Strong UI/UX judgment and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modern frontend tooling (Webpack/Vite, Babel, ESLint, Prettier)
- Experience with Agile/Scrum environments, sprint planning, and backlog refinement
- CI/CD familiarity and frontend deployment best practices
- Experience with observability tools (Sentry, LogRocket, performance monitoring)
- Experience building enterprise security products or compliance-related systems
- Familiarity with Next.js (SSR/SSG) is a plus
