Introduction
The Category Manager is a key role at Digikala, responsible for managing and developing one or more product categories. This role requires a unique combination of analytical, commercial, negotiation, and project management skills to ensure the assigned category achieves its sales, profitability, and market share growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assortment Management
- Design and manage the product mix with a focus on variety, quality, and market relevance
- Identify and introduce new products aligned with customer demand and market trends
- Monitor product lifecycle and replace/discontinue underperforming SKUs
- Data Analysis & Performance Optimization
- Review sales, profitability, and market share reports of the category
- Analyze customer buying behavior to identify growth opportunities
- Leverage data to improve pricing, promotions, and assortment strategy
- Pricing Strategy & Campaigns
- Develop competitive pricing strategies compared to market and competitors
- Collaborate with marketing teams on promotional campaigns and category-specific activations
- Evaluate campaign ROI and continuously improve future strategies
- Supplier & Contract Management
- Identify and onboard new suppliers while strengthening partnerships with existing ones
- Negotiate to secure optimal terms, margins, and exclusive deals
- Ensure proper execution of contracts and supplier service levels
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with marketing, logistics, finance, technology, and operations teams
- Share market knowledge and insights with internal stakeholders
- Ensure optimized customer experience throughout the purchase journey
- Category Strategic Development
- Identify global trends and innovative growth opportunities
- Develop long-term plans to increase market share and profitability
- Continuously analyze competitors and build sustainable competitive advantages
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Economics, or related fields
- 3–5 years of experience in Category Management, Product Management, or Buying within retail or e-commerce
- Proven experience in working with large datasets and data-driven decision-making
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking
- Negotiation and supplier relationship management
- Project management and cross-functional coordination
- Solid understanding of e-commerce and online consumer behavior
- Proficiency in analytical tools (Excel, BI tools, SQL preferred)
- Strong communication and leadership skill
